Goodbye Reptile. Welcome DJI F450 and Tarot 650.
Goodbye Reptile 550
After 8 months of possesing and flying a Reptile 550 frame quadcopter I believe I had miscalculated the motors-props setup(sunnysky 2212 980kv – 10×4.5) and I am getting low flight times(6-7 monutes with a 4000mAh 3s battery). So I decided to change my plans and to proceed to the order of DJI F450 and Tarot 650 frames.
Welcome DJI F450
Maybe the DJI F450 seems like a setback over the Reptile 550 frame I already own but I know for sure that is lighter (and I hope more rigid than the Reptile and clones) and I wanted to increase my flight times and also get rid of vibrations caused by the Reptile frame. Reptile 550 served me good but after 10 crashes it became loose. So my new plans are first to assemble the DJI F450 with my initial setup (sunnysky 2212 980kv, apm 2.6 and gimbal with mobius camera).
Tarot 650
After moving to my present parts to the DJI F450 frame I am going to assemble the Tarot 650 frame with a low kv motor and bigger propellers. I am thinking of something like motors 380 kv and 15×5 props with a new PixHawk flight controller, I am not sure yet. Mainly I am targeting to a heavier quadcopter and flight times of at least 20 minutes. I want to use it to host my canon 2200 and a490 (IR) cameras to get into mapping business.
